Tech for business ops
How you start can impact how long you are able to remain in business but also how much you enjoy the experience of being a business owner. In Structuring Your Business, we answered questions to help us frame in our minds the sort of business we want to enjoy running and identified at least one key role we need to hire to ensure our business has a solid foundation.
What tools and technology will you use to support your operations? These decisions have a financial impact, but they also have an impact on how your business will run today and years to come.
Let’s start with the basics:
How will you send and receive emails?
How many emails will you need?
How will you create documents?
How will you store documents?
How will you access those documents?
How will you share information with prospective customers and clients? Where will prospective customers and clients connect with you virtually?
—Will you have a website?
—Will you create email campaigns and send out newsletters?
—Will you create videos? Where will you store those videos?
—Do you have a webcam, ring light and appropriate speakers for video production?
These are just a handful of questions to ask and answer. If the answer is yes, the next question is what technology or tool best suits your purposes. One size doesn’t fit all. Use the technology/tool exercise to evaluate a few options and make the best choice for your business needs and budget.
